Pin table going blank when information source is refreshed
Hi there,I've recently been upgraded to a new computer at piece of work, which seems to take messed upwards my excel settings. When changing the data source anywhere outside of the existing range, the pin table goes completely blank. For example, table range will be prepare to Sheet1!$A$1:$AU$20. Leaving everything EXACTLY the aforementioned (as in all headers are unchanged, the information itself unchanged), I will update the table range to Sheet1!$A$1:$AU$19 and the pin table will get blank. Alternatively, if I re-create a make new data set into that exact range Sheet1!$A$one:$AU$20, the table will refresh perfectly with the new data.
I utilise a lot of templates to save time, and then I tin just easily copy/paste reports (again, using the same headers) + refresh the data, so this has been a huge pain. Has anyone had anything similar happen? I've gone through all of the options i can thing of to run across if at that place's whatsoever setting that needs updating merely I can't find a set.
Thank you for your assist!

Re: Pivot table going bare when data source is refreshed
Hi TinaQ,Is there any way you lot could attach your worksheet? This style nosotros can see whether the issue is with the worksheet (if the issue persists) or possibly your estimator (if the issue does not persist).
Thanks!

Re: Pivot tabular array going bare when information source is refreshed
Hi TinaQ,And then here is what I constitute -
The same thing that is happening to you is happening on mine. But I found a solution. Actually, the way I've always made Pivot Tables works just fine. I have a question for you lol. How did you lot make this Pin Tabular array?
I've never seen a Pin Tabular array with the bluish outlines effectually it, or with a "Canvas" in the field description box on the right. You will come across on the fastened form that I recreated yours and chosen the worksheet "New Pin". When you update the data source now, it keeps all of the data accessible and does not brand it go away.
The way that I create the Pivot Table is first by selecting my information range, and then going to "Insert" then "Pivot Table" and press okay. You will see on mine that it doesn't have those blueish lines and doesn't take the "Sheet" proper name in the description field.
Let me know if this helps! And please let me know how you made yours because now I'm curious

Re: Pivot table going blank when information source is refreshed
Nevermind, I figured out how you did it (I call back.) Did you select the "Add this data to the data model" option when you created the pin table? To be honest, I'one thousand not sure what this does or why information technology makes a departure. I'm sure on the of the Excel genius'southward on here (or google) could explain it to us. But for at present, if yous do non select that option, y'all shouldn't accept an issue![]()

Re: Pivot table going bare when data source is refreshed
Hey Yoandsm, cheers so much for helping me work this out! That's then funny, I've never seen the pivot table without the totals / blue outline equally i had it ha! I don't select anything specific - i merely do your standard 'Insert' --> 'Pivot table'. I've always done it the same way and never had this outcome before now. I practice run into though that the 'add this data' box is automatically ticked when I create it, and every bit you say when I un-tick it, it works only fine! I wonder if my settings somehow updated to take that motorcar-checked. I'll see if i can accept that setting inverse and so it doesn't automatically select that.
Thanks once again for your assistance, you've saved me!

Re: Pivot table going blank when data source is refreshed
Hey @TinaQ, I ran across this effect over again today and did some research and idea I'd update you lot. Apparently the blue lines are how the pivot tables used to wait in older versions of excel, since then, they have changed. With that being said, you tin can still toggle the option. If you lot select your pivot table and go to Pin Tabular array options > display, you can check or uncheck the box for "archetype pin tabular array". Thanks!
